Goel Theological Seminary (GTS), the trademark of Bethel Theological Seminary, Inc., recognizes the call to glorify God by becoming Christ-like and Christ-centered believers and compassionate Kingdom workers to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ. GTS is committed to helping students develop biblical and theological understanding, ministry skills, spirituality, and congregational and missional leadership.
The mission of GTS is to prepare and support Christian ministers to serve the church and to engage in the mission of God. The Seminary’s vision is to provide excellent academic and professional training necessary for Christian ministers serving in the twenty-first century. The Seminary is committed to preparing and supporting Christian ministers, missionaries, and lay leaders who demonstrate two core values, biblical orientation, and practical competence.
GTS offers a Master of Arts in Christian Ministry (MACM) and a Certificate of Christian Ministry (CCF) designed to help students develop academic and professional competencies needed for Christian ministry and leadership in local and global settings. Through our programs, students will develop
1. An advanced understanding of Christian ministry and the mission of God.
2. A broad understanding of biblical, theological, and missiological disciplines.
3. Practical skills needed for Christian ministry in the church and other settings.
Goel Theological Seminary is committed to the Christian faith as revealed in the Bible and articulated in the Westminster Confession of Faith, the Larger Catechism, and the Shorter Catechism. The trustees, administration, and faculty of GTS bear concerted witness to the following articles.
The Trinity
We believe that God exists in three persons: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, yet fully and unequivocally One in essence. The Scriptures make countless references to the fact that God is One and there are no other gods.
Inspired, Inerrant, Infallible Word of God
We believe that the Bible is the Word of God; that it is inspired by and has the full authority of God. Many times, Jesus affirmed the inspiration of the Old Testament as the word of God verifying the authenticity of the Scriptures.
Original Sin
We believe that all people are born under the bondage of sin because of Adam's first act of disobedience against God. This condition of sinfulness leads us all to be in a natural state of alienation towards God and other people.
Substitutionary Atonement
We believe that the death of Christ on the cross served as a substitute to pay for the penalty of our sins. Jesus Christ substitutionally took upon the sins of the world to satisfy the wrath of God so that we might experience the fullness of salvation.
Justification by Grace through Faith Alone
We believe that the work of salvation in man is totally and absolutely the work of God’s grace. Salvation from God is not earned through works but by his grace through faith in Christ.
The Church as the Body of Christ
We believe that the holy universal Church is the body of Christ. The church, therefore, is a God-ordained institution commissioned to glorify God by faithfully fulfilling its commission of evangelism to the world.
The Second Coming of Jesus Christ
We believe that the second coming of Jesus will mark the imminence of the end of the age, where He will judge the living and the dead. His coming will mark judgment for those who have rejected his message of salvation and reward for those who have remained faithful to his promise.
